Pool Filter Cleaning in Phoenix

A dirty filter means cloudy water and a pump working too hard. We take the filter apart, clean it thoroughly, and put it back together right.

What a Filter Cleaning Includes

We shut down the system, release the pressure, and open the filter tank. Cartridges are removed and rinsed thoroughly, working between the pleats to get out the dirt, oils and debris that a quick hose-off misses. For DE filters, we break down and clean the grids and recharge the filter with fresh DE.

While the filter is open, we inspect the cartridges or grids for tears and wear, check the tank o-ring, and look for cracked parts. Then we reassemble everything, restart the system, and check that pressure and flow are back where they should be.

Signs Your Filter Needs Cleaning

The easiest sign is the pressure gauge. When it reads well above its normal clean pressure, the filter is loaded up and restricting flow. Other signs include weak return jets, cloudy water that won't clear, and a pool that needs more chemicals than usual to stay clean.

After a green pool cleanup or an algae treatment, the filter is almost always packed with dead algae and needs a full cleaning to get the pool back to normal.

How Often Phoenix Pools Need Filter Cleaning

Filters in the Phoenix Valley see a lot of fine desert dust, especially during monsoon season. Long pump run times in summer also move more water and debris through the filter. Many local pools benefit from a deep filter cleaning a couple of times a year, with more frequent attention after dust storms or heavy use.

Hard water can also leave mineral scale on cartridges over time. When cartridges get stiff, torn, or won't come clean anymore, it's time to replace them, and we'll tell you if that's the case.

Why a Clean Filter Matters

A clean filter traps the fine particles that make water look dull, lets the pump move water easily, and helps your chemicals work better. It's one of the simplest ways to keep a pool clear and reduce strain on your equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know my pool filter needs cleaning?

High filter pressure, weak return flow, and cloudy water that won't clear are the most common signs.

Do you clean DE filters as well as cartridge filters?

Yes. We clean cartridge filters and break down DE filters to clean the grids and add fresh DE.

When should cartridges be replaced instead of cleaned?

When they're torn, the pleats are flattened or stiff with scale, or they won't come clean. We'll let you know when we see it.
