Pool Acid Wash & Draining in Phoenix, AZ

Stained, dull plaster brightened, with the pool drained the safe way first.

Acid wash & drain

Brighter plaster starts with a careful drain

Years of hard water, algae and leaves leave plaster gray, streaked and stained.

An acid wash strips a very thin layer of the surface and brings back a brighter, cleaner finish.

It starts with draining.

We follow proper procedures that protect the plaster, the hydrostatic valve and your equipment, then wash, rinse and neutralize before refilling.

Draining also comes up on its own: water that has built up too much calcium and dissolved solids to balance, or a pool that needs to be empty for repairs.

Phoenix specific

Why Phoenix pools need a reset

Pools here lose a lot of water to evaporation, and every top-off with hard tap water adds more minerals.

Over a few years the water can get hard to balance.

A drain and refill resets that, and pairing it with an acid wash takes care of stains and scale while the pool is empty.

Timing and method matter.

A pool drained the wrong way can be damaged by groundwater pressure, and local rules control where the water can go. We handle it properly.

Questions

Acid wash & drain: common questions

Is an acid wash safe for my plaster?

Done right, yes. It removes a very thin layer, so it is not something to repeat often. We will tell you honestly whether your plaster is a good candidate.

Why not drain the pool myself?

Draining the wrong way can damage a pool. Groundwater pressure can lift or crack a shell if the hydrostatic valve is not handled, and there are local rules about where pool water can go.

How do I know if my water needs replacing?

If the water stays hard to balance, leaves heavy scale or tests high in calcium and dissolved solids, a drain and refill is usually the fix.
